From the recording Carry Me Through
When the world gets me down and I feel there is nothing I can do to fix things, I turn to Jesus to carry me through the day. I find comfort in knowing that He has the answers to my questions and guides me through whatever pain or struggles I may be feeling in the moment. When I am weak and feel like I’m ready to fall, He catches me and gives me the strength to keep going.
Jesus carries me through. ❤️
I wrote a version of this song in 1981 originally recorded on cassette tapes.
Lyrics
Verse 1
When this world gets me down,
The sky turns cold and gray.
Every road feels so unsure,
Every step just slips away.
Pre-Chorus
But I hear Your quiet voice,
Calling through the noise.
Chorus
When this world gets me down,
I lean on You to carry me through.
Don't let me fall, I'm holding on,
My hope is found in You.
You lift me higher than my fear,
You make my spirit new.
When this world gets me down,
I lean on You to carry me through.
Verse 2
When the shadows close around,
And the answers fade from view,
You are steady through the storm,
Every promise still is true.
Bridge
You are the light that never dies,
The strength behind these weary eyes.
I won't walk this road alone—
Your love has brought me home.
Final Chorus
When this world gets me down,
I lean on You to carry me through.
You're my shelter, You're my song,
Forever I'll follow You.
No matter where this road may lead,
Your grace will see me through.
When this world gets me down,
I lean on You... to carry me through.
