“Diamond Lady” is a song rooted in the innocence, excitement, and uncertainty of high school love.

The song was originally written and recorded live in **1979**, when we were about 15 years old, and later recorded in the studio in **1984**. Several members of our high school band, **Electric Outpost**, contributed to writing the song, including **Mike Trapin, E. James Paris, David French, Marty Zenk, and Glenn MacLeod**.

Electric Outpost was based near **Leland High School in Almaden Valley, California**, where much of the inspiration for the song began. At that age, there was always that one girl who seemed to stand out from everyone else—the beautiful girl you saw every day in the hallways and around school, but somehow could never quite find the courage to approach.

She was the girl who caught your eye from across the room. You noticed her every day, admired her from a distance, and wondered what it would be like to tell her how you felt. To a 15-year-old, those emotions could feel overwhelming. She wasn't just another girl at school—she was the one who seemed to shine brighter than everyone around her.

She was our **“Diamond Lady.”**

Over the years, “Diamond Lady” was performed at various gigs and continued to be part of the Electric Outpost story. The song was later recorded under the title **“Head Over Heels”** on another album released in **1987**.

Now, in **2026**, the song is recreated with AI and also being recorded once again in a new version by humans—a chance to revisit a piece of our youth and bring those memories back to life.

More than four decades later, the feeling behind the song remains familiar: that first experience of seeing someone special, falling head over heels, and being just a little too nervous to make the first move.
“Diamond Lady” is a snapshot of being young, being in love for the first time, and remembering the girl who stood out from the rest.
