From the recording Beyond The Dawn
This song came from my faith and from the reminder that none of us has to walk through life carrying our burdens alone. There have been times when fear, uncertainty, and the struggles of life can feel overwhelming, but my faith in Jesus reminds me to keep moving forward and trust that He is leading the way.
The song is about laying those burdens at the cross and choosing faith over fear. It is also a reminder that death is not the end for those who believe in Christ. His promise of eternal life gives me hope beyond the difficulties of this life.
I wanted the song to feel like an encouragement to anyone who may be struggling—to look up, keep walking with Jesus, and remember that there is a brighter future beyond this life. No matter how dark the night may seem, His light continues to shine.
That is the heart of the song: faith, hope, and the promise that one day we will live forever with our Savior, beyond the dawn.
I created this song idea in 1982.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Morning calls across the sky,
Wake your soul and lift your eyes.
Every road has led us here,
Love is stronger than our fear.
Hear His voice above the wind,
Take His hand and walk with Him.
Chorus
If you believe and follow Jesus,
He will lead you all the way.
Death can never steal tomorrow,
Life is brighter than the day.
In His Kingdom we'll live forever,
Never fading, never gone.
He has opened Heaven's doorway,
We will live beyond the dawn.
Verse 2
Lay your burdens at the cross,
Nothing given there is lost.
Hope is rising like the sun,
The victory has already been won.
Every heart can hear Him say,
"Come with Me, I'll make a way."
Chorus
If you believe and follow Jesus,
He will lead you all the way.
Death can never steal tomorrow,
Life is brighter than the day.
In His Kingdom we'll live forever,
Never fading, never gone.
He has opened Heaven's doorway,
We will live beyond the dawn.
Bridge
Beyond the night, beyond the years,
Love is greater than our fears.
With the King we'll always stand,
Safe forever in His hands.
Final Chorus
If you believe and follow Jesus,
Walk by faith until the end.
In His Kingdom we'll live forever,
With our Savior and our Friend.
He has conquered death forever,
His light will carry on.
We will live forever with Him,
Beyond the dawn.
