From the recording Hold Me Only You Girl
I originally wrote this song in 2002 and taught it to my music students to get an idea how to write and play the Merseybeat style of The Beatles. I have an unfinished recording of this song outside of using AI and will release that version when I have more time to do so. The lyrics are about a young guy who met a girl at the church social event that is completely smitten by her and is telling the world about his new love for her in this song. How great is that ; )
Lyrics
Verse 1
I saw you at the church social,
Smiling by the door,
You wore a little ribbon,
And I couldn't ask for more.
We danced beneath the lanterns,
While the old songs filled the hall,
And when you looked into my eyes,
I knew I'd fall.
Chorus
Hold me, only you, girl,
Hold me close tonight,
Only you, girl, only you,
Make everything feel right!
Hold me, only you, girl,
Don't ever let me go,
You're the sweetest girl I know,
And I love you so!
Verse 2
We walked home after midnight,
Underneath the moon,
Talking about forever,
Though forever seemed too soon.
You said you'd meet me Sunday,
And I smiled the whole way home,
Now every road I take, my love,
Leads where you roam.
Chorus
Hold me, only you, girl,
Hold me close tonight,
Only you, girl, only you,
Make everything feel right!
Hold me, only you, girl,
Don't ever let me go,
You're the sweetest girl I know,
And I love you so!

Only you, girl—
Only you!
Hold me, darling,
All night through!
